Cultural Workshop on Mounting Your Own Orchids
The July 10th meeting will be our annual hands-on mounting session. It will be only an in-person meeting, no Zoom will be presented. We will start promptly at 7pm so that we can get through the meeting and raffle on time. Norm Nakanishi, Gary Putnam, and Espie Quinn will be the experts that will be helping members mount and/or remount their own orchids.
This session is meant for members to bring in their own orchids. You want to mount an orchid that is in active growth, meaning that new roots are emerging so they can establish themselves quickly on the mount. If you are not sure if the plant you want to bring is suitable for mounting, do some research online.
Everyone is welcome to attend and must follow these protocols:
● Maximum Number of Plants You Can Bring to the Meeting to Mount: 2 BUG-FREE Plants of any genera suitable for mounting.
● Bring your own gloves, pruners/shears, plant tags and pencil, and mount(s) with a hook or hanger if you have them. There will be small to medium cork mounts for sale at the meeting.
● The club will supply the moss, fishing line, and green plant ties to tie on your plant tag(s).
● The club will have mounts of different styles and sizes for sale.
Please note that you are welcome to bring in your plants to show, but there will be no plant judging.
NOTE: We will have a plant table and silent auction
